Draping on the stand...

Learning how to drape and pattern cut on the mannequin, here are some examples.

Draped cowl back…

For this example I used 2 metres of calico fabric folded on the bias. The corners were put to the shoulders of the mannequin and the draping started to appear naturally. I then added a simple front bodice, darting where needed.

Draping into a cut-out side…

The garment shape is intially created with an outline of fabric tape. 1 metre of calico is pinned to the mannequin down the centre of the body. The folds are then draped around the body and are positioned towards the side. Any fabric outside the tape can be removed (except for a seam allowance).
